Why does Little Miss Muffet wear pants with ruffles?
“Mom,” I say. “You make me look crazy.”

My costume is not ready. So I wear my orange and black sweater to the trick-or-treat fest downtown.
A lady looks at me and smiles.
“Are you a witch?” she asks.
I put my hands on my hips and glare at her.
No, I say.

I walk with grace. And do not fall.

Mom and Dad and I drive to a new town. To play.
It rains. And it is cold.
But when we get to our hotel room, the view from my window is bright.
I wear a coat outside.
I wear a swim suit inside.
I want to take this window home with me.
It is magic.
