I find a big ring with beads that slide all around it.
What’s this? I ask Mom.
“It’s a teething ring,” Mom says. “You chewed on it when you were a baby.”
I will play with it again, I say, when I grow smaller.
And I place it back in the toy pile. For later.

It has not rained in a while. The plants need some water.
So I fill up my squirt gun.
And shoot the flowers.

I hate to wash my hair.
Water and soap drip into my eyes. And it hurts.
Mom makes me wash my hair anyway.
So I come up with a plan for a truly tear free shampoo during bath time.
Goggles. My purple goggles.
It keeps the sting out.

Our town has a new park. One just for dogs.
Mom and I pack the big dog—the sociable one—in the back of the car. And drive to the new park.
We stop at a very big yard. With a fence all around it.
