Mom and Dad and I walk on the lake. There is water under our feet. But thick ice keeps us on top.

It is cold outside. But I want to swim.
I need a beach day.
So Mom grabs my swim suit and beach towel and tosses me in the tub. She cranks up the heat in the bathroom.
And calls it summer.

Mom likes to read the newspaper each day. I like to help her bring it in the house.
When she sits down to read it, I pick up a slick ad that comes with my Dora movie.
My newspaper, I say. And I sit down to read it, too.
What is Dora up to today? I wonder.

I stick rods round and round into the holes of a disc.
Some times I call it a sun. Some times I call it a clock.
But when I make a whole bunch, I call it a pride of lions. Roar!

I open a drawer. And find fun things to play with. Glue sticks. Tape. Rubber bands. A deck of cards.
Mom calls it her junk drawer.
I call it my treasure chest.

While Mom takes a shower I sit on the warm tile floor.
I watch Mom as she puts soap on her wet hair and rubs it in.
I find my hair soap. Put a glob in my hand. And rub it on my dry scalp.
Mom laughs when she steps out of the tub and sees me.

Folks like my pink winter hat. They tell me so all the time.
Now Mom wants a pink hat, too. And she buys one like mine.
But where mine has white fur. Hers has brown.
Hello, Tiger, I say. And she laughs.
